Rory tries to bolster new friendships by inviting the Chilton girls to a Bangles concert. Meanwhile, Lorelai learns about an ex-girlfriend of Luke’s.

Lorelai and Rory agree to two awkward double dates; Lane has a crush on a dim-witted friend of Dean’s, and Sookie has her first date with Jackson, whose rude cousin is in town.

Lorelai begins to panic as her involvement with Max grows more serious. Paris witnesses a private moment between them during Parents’ Day, leading to unintended consequences for Rory.

Tensions persist between Lorelai and Emily following their fight, but things are put into perspective when Richard is rushed to the hospital from the family Christmas party.

Rory and Dean fall asleep after attending her first dance together, reopening old Gilmore-family wounds and landing Lorelai in hot water with Emily.
